  2. The video shows the actual machining operation and finishing in steel. The limitation of the robot is the tolerance you mentioned. If this tolerance is ok then the robot is suitable for this application, cheaper from CNC machines and extremely more flexible as it can automate further the production line. For soft material the tolerance is fine and also for applications like marble it is the best. For extremely high accuracy then choose a CNC.

  3. good idea, but the home point position probably wont repeat better than +/- .030. So that will be the limiting tolerance. You need to develop a continuity touch system off several points of a sphere.

    with some work this is the future for soft material machining. Its not rigid enough for steels and hard metal.
